The Olympics Of Professional Skiing

Skiing is extremely popular around the world, both as a recreational activity and as a competitive sport. Skiing is one of the major sports in the Winter Olympics, which are held every four years and bring together amateur athletes around the world.

In professional skiing, however, the Jeep King of the Mountain Series is the most prestigious event, offering the largest cash prize. In 2006, the winners of the Jeep King of the Mountain Series received almost half a million dollars in prize money and bonuses. The skiing and snowboarding champions in both the men's and women's divisions also received 2006 Jeep Commanders as part of their prize.

The Jeep King of the Mountain Series brings together 32 of the best skiers and snowboarders in the world. It features an inventive and highly exciting race course in which skiers and snowboarders begin on separate race courses, then meet midway and race against each other.

The Jeep King of the Mountain Series has been the biggest event in professional skiing and snowboarding for 13 years. It is watched every year by millions of viewers on CBS Sports and other sports channels all over the United States. The competition has featured a number of past Olympic champions, including Jean-Luc Cretier from France, Tommy Moe from the USA, Josef Polig from Italy, Pirmin Zurbriggen from Switzerland, Bill Johnson from the USA, Leonard Stock from Austria, and Franz Klammer from Austria.

To qualify for the Jeep King of the Mountain Series, skiers must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver's license or state-certified identification card with a photograph, apply for the competition in person, and complete the competition's release and waiver forms. During the 2005 to 2006 series, a qualifying race for both skiers and snowboarders was held in Crested Butte, Colorado, and Squaw Valley, California. A qualifying race for skiers only was held in Banff, Canada. A qualifying race for snowboarders only was held in Sunday River, Maine.

The winners of the Jeep King of the Mountain Series receive the title of World Professional Champion. In 2005 to 2006, the World Professional Champions were the following:

Men's Skiing: Casey Puckett from the USA

Men's Snowboarding: Graham Watanabe from the USA

Women's Skiing: Ophelie David from France

Women's Snowboarding: Dorelia Krings from Austria

The Jeep King of the Mountain Series is one of the most exciting snow sports competitions in the world today. Catch it this winter on your favorite sports channel.
